Ordering & Payment

How do I place an order?
Simply browse our collections, choose the set that's right for you, and click "Add to Cart." Checkout takes less than a minute — you'll receive an order confirmation email immediately after purchase, and a tracking number as soon as your order ships.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. All payments are processed securely through Shopify's encrypted checkout — we never see or store your card details.
Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?
We start processing orders quickly, but if you need to change or cancel, contact us as soon as possible through our Contact page. If your order hasn't shipped yet, we'll do our best to accommodate your request. Orders that have already shipped can be handled through our return process.

Shipping & Delivery

How long will it take to receive my order?
Orders are typically processed within 3–5 business days. Once shipped, delivery within the United States usually takes 7–10 business days depending on your location. You'll receive a tracking number by email so you can follow your package every step of the way.
Do you ship internationally?
We currently focus on shipping within the United States. If you're located outside the U.S. and would like to order, please reach out through our Contact page and we'll see what we can arrange. Wholesale partners should contact us directly at wholesale@usa-mahjong.com.
My tracking number isn't working — what should I do?
Tracking numbers can take up to 24 hours to become active after you receive the shipping confirmation email. If it's been more than 24 hours and your tracking still shows no updates, contact us and we'll look into it right away.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?
We want you to love your mahjong set. If for any reason you're not satisfied, you may return your purchase within 14 days of delivery for a refund, provided the set is in its original condition and packaging. To start a return, contact us through our Contact page with your order number.
What if my set arrives damaged or defective?
Every set is inspected before shipping, but if your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage. We'll arrange a free replacement or a full refund — no need to ship the damaged item back in most cases.
Can I exchange my set for a different color or style?
Yes! If you'd prefer a different design, contact us within 30 days of delivery. As long as your original set is unused and in its original packaging, we'll gladly arrange an exchange. You'll only be responsible for any price difference and return shipping.

About Our Mahjong Sets

How many tiles are in each set?
Each of our mahjong sets includes 160 premium tiles. American mahjong is played with 152 tiles following NMJL rules — our sets include extra jokers and replacement tiles so you're always covered, even if a tile gets lost or worn over the years.
What's the difference between acrylic and melamine sets?
Acrylic is our premium material — tiles have a gorgeous glossy finish, satisfying weight, richer colors, and superior scratch resistance. Melamine is our value option — still durable and beautiful, but lighter and more budget-friendly. Acrylic sets ($99–$129) are ideal for frequent players and gifting; melamine sets ($49.90) are perfect for beginners and casual game nights.
Are your sets compatible with NMJL rules and the current year's card?
Yes. All of our sets are designed specifically for American mahjong as governed by the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL), including 8 jokers and the flowers needed for the current standard card. Simply pair your set with the current year's NMJL card (available separately in our shop) and you're ready to play.
Do the sets include racks, pushers, and a case?
Our tile sets include the 166 tiles themselves. Accessories are sold separately so you can mix and match: acrylic tile racks ($5.00), play mats ($19.90), and the current NMJL card ($9.90) are all available in our shop. Many customers bundle these with their set for the complete game-night experience.
How do I clean and care for my tiles?
Wipe tiles gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them immediately. Avoid harsh chemicals, alcohol-based cleaners, or abrasive materials — these can dull the finish or fade the engraving. Store your set away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, and it will look beautiful for years of weekly play.
I'm new to American mahjong — which set should I buy?
If you're just learning, our melamine sets at $49.90 are a fantastic starting point — same 160 tiles, same playability, friendly price. If you're buying a gift or know you'll play weekly, treat yourself to an acrylic set — the weight, finish, and colors make every game feel special. Either way, add an NMJL card so you can follow the current year's hands.

Is a mahjong set a good gift?
One of the best. Mahjong is having a major moment — it's the centerpiece of game nights, book clubs, and family gatherings across the country. A beautifully crafted set is a gift that gets used for years, and our acrylic sets in particular are the kind people proudly leave out on the coffee table.
Do you offer gift cards?

Wholesale

Do you offer wholesale pricing?
Yes! We partner with retailers, game shops, gift stores, and distributors. Approved wholesale partners receive discount all products. The minimum order is 5 sets per purchase — orders below 5 sets cannot be processed at wholesale pricing.
How do I apply for a wholesale account?
Fill out our Wholesale Sign Up form, or email your company details (business name, address, contact information, resale certificate, and estimated monthly volume) to wholesale@usa-mahjong.com. We review every application within 2–3 business days. Once approved, you'll receive login credentials for your B2B account with wholesale pricing applied automatically.
